When it comes to dieting and exercise, there is a lot of talk of ‘willpower’. This can backfire and make a person feel bad about them. For example, a person that has tried to unsuccessfully lose weight over and over again will end up feeling they have no willpower or are lazy. With a bit of careful thought, one can see why such an assumption is irrational. How can a person that has tried dieting over and over again be lazy? In the same way, people that talk about willpower tend to have an extreme and radical view of dieting and exercise, and their militant approach to weight loss might not apply to everyone.

Once it is established that you would be medically suitable and that you are completely happy to proceed with the treatment the doctor will advise you of our low fat, low sugar diet programme and will discuss other courses of treatment that can help you manage your weight. You would then come back at regular intervals for your progress to be monitored by the doctor.

Eating healthily will become something you want to do instead of a sacrifice – by learning to value yourself and your body at a whole new level you will want to make sure that you are filling it with high quality fuel. You’ll discover how to balance treats and indulgences with a much healthier overall diet that helps to improve and maintain your health and energy levels without depriving you of all of the foods you love.

Your first detox is like picking up a new sport. At first it is intriguing, you are super motivated and excited about the potential results. Then it begins… the pain and concentration that you need to have to strictly eat what you are supposed to eat/drink and NOTHING else. You have a moment of doubt and maybe even laziness, usually around the liquid days, where you wonder if you are going to be able to reach your goal and whether all this is worth it. You eventually pull through and once you are finally done, you realise how much better you feel, how much better you look and how excited you are about feeling in control of your body’s health. Angelique kept saying she regularly does a detox and I always thought it was because she was way more devoted than everyone else, but I get it now. I am actually looking forward to my next one!
Regular physical activity is important but who said you have to buy expensive equipment or gym memberships? simaktiv’s goal is to add physical activity into your lifestyle in a fun and convenient way. How much weight will I lose? : it really does depend on how much weight you have to lose in the first place and how well you stick with the programme.  I have seen 3-4 kg lost in the first two phases (2 weeks and 2 days) through to a staggering 10kg.  For most people the first two phases sees the most dramatic loss in weight after which point is does slow down a bit.  One lady on the plan at the moment has lost 7kg and she is a couple of weeks into phase 3 (more relaxed phase where one weekly treat meal is allowed) and is half way to her total weight loss goal.
“I had heard lots of stories about slimming pills, so I was naturally skeptical about attending a clinic. The doctor prescribed for me a course of tablets and a diet. I did not take them for the first week because of my doubts but I have to say, that apart from a dry mouth for the first few days, they were marvelous and I lost weight almost like magic. Yes, they worked and were safe.”

“The best part about this programme was the motivational side – I didn’t know it was coming and it was just what I needed. Kyle made me feel comfortable and at ease and his style was clear and direct. Working through the programme ended my fear of being stuck in rut indefinitely and I am more committed to making changes, feel better about myself and am confident that I can achieve my weight loss goals.” (Smita Patel, London) more…

Lastly, you enter the Wellness Phase when you have met your goal weight. Monthly visits help to keep you on track with your long-term weight maintenance plan, and additional testing and supplements may be suggested. During this phase, the dieter moves to a 40/30/30 eating plan where 40 percent of calories consumed come from carbohydrates, 30 percent come from fats and 30 percent come from protein.
I love the Metabolic Balance programme and find that it can get amazing results for some people.  I have had people in my clinic crying with frustration over the fact that they can’t lose weight because “NOTHING WORKS ANYMORE”.  Yet after a few weeks on the programme they see significant weight loss.  I know as soon as I write that your next question is ‘so how much weight did they lose?’ …..it depends (more below)

Sustained weight loss for patients who are morbidly obese—usually defined as being 100 pounds or more over ideal body weight or having a body mass index of 40 or higher—is even harder to achieve. And serious health risks have been identified for people who move from diet to diet, subjecting their bodies to a severe and continuing cycle of weight loss and gain known as "yo-yo dieting."

I got a grim report on blood tests 3 months ago: liver dysfunction, high sugar & obesity. I had to ...have a seatbelt extension and wheelchair to make it through the airports. I was told to lose weight, which I tried to do for years. I needed help and God sent me here!! I feel like I have friends who care. Three months later I am down 31 lbs, 52 inches, liver enzymes are within normal limits, triglycerides lowered from 251 to 121 and I've started going to aerobics class!!! I still have a long way to go, but I am being successful a day at a time. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!! See More
Phase 3: Relax: at this point you will receive a more extended food list allowing you to broaden your meal choices.  This is the time when a weekly 'treat' meal is added in.  Adding exercise at this point is extremely beneficial. This is when most people really start to see a difference in how they look and feel.  Hunger and craving diminish and you will notice how a small amount of food will leave you feeling satisfied.  Energy levels rise, skin looks glowing and all round wellbeing improves.

I have helped numerous clients succeed in significant weight loss journeys that involve losses of over 20-30 kg in body fat over the space of 1-2 years or more. I actually find such longer term journeys more rewarding as they allow me to teach my clients about the impact of nutrition and lifestyle habits on their physiology. This not only helps them, but also helps those closest to them as well.
