Prior to your first appointment with the doctor, we will first need to establish your BMI ( body mass Index) as you need to have a BMI in excess of 30 (27 with associated comorbidities), not be taking any medication for conditions such as epilepsy or depression, and provide confirmation that you are over the age of 18 (ID required) before any appointment can be offered.
Some patients have a need for other consultations (for example, with a consultant psychiatrist/ full course of psychological therapy, or a sleep apnoea consultant), or may require blood tests, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, or overnight sleep oximetry; these would all be separately charged. If a patient requires more frequent support or help – including additional consultations or weekly support, these will be charged in separately.

Children can take part in weight-loss programs, but child-centered programs are more difficult to find. The nutritional and psychological needs of children are different from adults, so talk to your child’s pediatrician before enrolling him or her in a formal weight-control program. Online sites and smart-phone apps are also available to help children lose weight in a healthy manner and can help protect the relationship between parents and children.
You will not necessarily burn more fat using a ‘fat burn’ program on the treadmill which keeps you in an intensity of 50 – 60% of your max heart rate. There is evidence to show that exercising at a light to moderate range burns more fat than strenuous exercise as the body has greater access to use fat as a fuel during these lower intensities. As you can see in the table below, a percentage of fat is used during all intensities of exercise, but at different rates. Because the rate of fat use is slow during light to moderate exercise, it is important to increase the duration of your exercise session – minimum of 30 minutes progressing to 60 minutes.
We never pass your personal details to a third party unless we have a contract for them to process data on our behalf and will otherwise keep it confidential. If we intend to refer a patient to another practitioner or to secondary care such as a hospital we will gain the individual’s permission before the referral is made and the personal data is shared.
A: Clinical results show that in three treatments, patients see an average of 4 cm reduction in circumference. Clinical trials have shown an average of 2 cm reduction in circumference even after a single treatment. As with any non-invasive procedure the results you see may differ from the clinical trial results. The Doctor will be happy to discuss this in detail with you during a consultation.

However, if you are one of the increasing numbers of people who don’t cook at all, this makes it much harder to be successful on the plan.  You need to be prepared to dedicate some time to buying groceries, food preparation and some basic cookery.  Yes you can use ready cooked salmon and lentils or bags of ready prepared veg but I would worry about your ability to stick with the plan over the longer term in this case.
Phase 4: Maintenance: most people start this phase at week 12, though it does depend on how much weight you have to lose.  During this phase I work with you to make the programme become a long term way of life.  I show you how you can gradually expand your food list and explain which foods you should you should keep in moderation.  You will end up in a place where you will instinctively know how to stay in balance.

The blood test looks at standard blood parameters, this includes liver function, thyroid, glucose, inflammation markers, cholesterol, red and white blood cells, etc.  This can therefore provide a great tool to track progress.  I often see inflammation markers reduce, glucose regulation improve, cholesterol levels lower. Note: It is not a blood test that looks at “food allergy”
