A healthy, balanced diet along with regular exercise need to be undertaken alongside the treatment and/or course. Clients with underlying medical issues and/or a history of poor health, diabetes, thyroid conditions, endocrine conditions or any other health-related conditions that may contribute to weight gain or a compromised metabolism may not respond to the proposed treatment and/or may require additional treatment sessions.

Some patients have a need for other consultations (for example, with a consultant psychiatrist/ full course of psychological therapy, or a sleep apnoea consultant), or may require blood tests, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, or overnight sleep oximetry; these would all be separately charged. If a patient requires more frequent support or help – including additional consultations or weekly support, these will be charged in separately.
Why do we wrestle with what we eat and how much we eat? Sometimes we eat the right foods in the right portions, and sometimes we eat the entire dinner table and all the wrong foods. Why is it so hard to eat healthfully? Whether you're trying to lose a few pounds or maintain a nutritious diet, you'll find many of your eating habits are due to emotional eating. So weight loss or weight gain become more an issue not of what you eat, but how you feel when you're doing it.
Phase 3: Relax: at this point you will receive a more extended food list allowing you to broaden your meal choices. This is the time when a weekly 'treat' meal is added in. Adding exercise at this point is extremely beneficial. This is when most people really start to see a difference in how they look and feel. Hunger and craving diminish and you will notice how a small amount of food will leave you feeling satisfied. Energy levels rise, skin looks glowing and all round wellbeing improves.
Secondly, our nutritional approach uses a method that has been shown to be much more user friendly than counting calories (calories on food packaging can be out by up to 25%!) and doesn’t rely on weighing every morsel of food that passes your lips. Our nutritional approach is about achieving optimal health while gradually increasing the quantity of food you are allowed while supporting muscle growth and fat loss. This is important as the industry ‘standard’ approach is to restrict/decrease food as time goes on which leads to muscle breakdown and a lower metabolism – both of which are disastrous as far as fat loss is concerned.
Francine Joyce is a French nutritionist who graduated in Dietetics in Paris and is now on the French Embassy’s register in London. She has worked in hospitals in France (in oncology, geriatrics, surgery and endocrinology) and the UK (in intensive care, and gastroenterology at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital London) and for the Prader-Willi Association (for patients suffering from genetic obesity). She has also taken part in research studies in the food industry, in particular for the Danone Group.
The IRS does allow Flexible Spending Accounts to be used for Medical Weight Loss Plans and many of our patients have used this to pay for some of their program. Proper documentation is required in order to use this benefit. We will help you through this process. If you have a “Flex Plan” though your employer, check with your Benefits Administrator to see how this will benefit you.
Bariatric weight loss surgeries, such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy or laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB), force patients to drastically reduce the amount of food they consume by surgically creating a small stomach pouch. Most gastric procedures reduce the stomach's holding capacity from about two quarts to two ounces. When eating, this pouch fills quickly. Because patients feel satisfied and full sooner, they eat less.
You don’t have to be an athlete to notice how nutrition can impact your performance. For you it could be your performance at work, in the gym, or at home with your family. Performance tells us a lot about your physiology. Whenever you feel low or are finding your performance is suffering, your motivation and desire to continue with the recommendations will diminish.
